Anything Goes at Southern Girls Challenge

Hi all.  A new challenge is up at Southern Girls Challenge Blog.  It's an ANYTHING GOES challenge.  So I'm hoping to see you all there with your projects.

Our sponsor is PPinkydolls

I printed the image onto some watercolour paper and used my Zig Clean Color Brush Makers to colour her in.  I then die cut with a Spellbinders Oval die.  Next step was to add some texture to my card base with a stencil and some texture paste. Once it dried I used some Victorian Velvet distress ink to sponge the card.  I then layered it onto some dark purple card and onto a soft lilac card base.  I added some punched flowers topped with some pearls.  I haven't added a sentiment as yet.

So with a ANYTHING GOES theme there's lots of scope to join us.

Inspired by Catherine Pooler's class at Craftsy.

I've been taking the Craftsy class by Catherine Pooler - Wild Cards - 21 Techniques.  It's been lots of fun with tons of neat techniques and ideas.  Here are two cards I made with techniques that Catherine shared...

First up was a technique using the back of a sentiment stamp to colour block.

I used the back of the Kaisercraft stamp and a rainbow of Memento inks to make the base.  Stamped in sentiment and added some punched stars and sequins.

My second card used a Double stenciling technique.

My first stencil was a MFT Houndstooth inked up with Tea Dye ink.  I only sponged a little bit of the stencil.  Over top of this I sponged some Weathered Wood ink and a Hero Arts stencil (Leaf and Flourish)  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter.  I had to channel my inner Catherine as I got a smudge on it.  So out came the Sequin stamp set from Winnie & Walter and I stamped some black sequins and stars.

I've done one more card inspired by the class - but you'll have to wait a week or so to see when I post of A2Z Scrapbooking on the 6th August!

If you haven't joined Catherine's Craftsy class I can highly recommend it!  You can get it HERE.

Vienna - next stop on our European Tour

Hi there...

I'm back to share some more photos of our holiday.  After Prague we caught the train to Vienna.  We had 5 nights here with our friends.  Our apartment was very modern - not to far from Prater rail station and the oldest fairground in Europe.   Vienna is full of palaces, museums, art galleries  and of course has the Danube flowing through it...

As you can see lots of walking was done and we even had time to go for a cruise on the Danube (thanks to hubby skippering a little boat) and then a bit of a swim as well.   We went and saw the paintings at the Belvedere Palace, including the Klimt exhibition.  We bought a print of the Woman in Gold and carefully carried it all the way home in a tube!  And the picture of the swing thing.... that's Peter and me up there!

Hope I'm not boring you with all my photos... it's nice to share.

Good Friends..

Here I am back to share another card for A2Z Scrapbooking.

Our challenge this month is Clean and Simple....Clean and Simple doesn't always mean lots of white space... how about a bit of soft colour!

Good Friends

I took the sentiment from this set.  and gold embossed it.  I then used my new Zig Clean  Colour Real Brush pens to add some soft watercolour to the background.   My butterflies are from this digi kit  I printed the butterfly twice onto some watercolour paper that had the same soft colours as my background.  I fussy cut and added them one on top of the other.  Finished with some bright pink gems.

Holiday - Prague

I have to say Prague was a big favourite spot on our trip.  I JUST loved this city.  There was simply so much to see and do.  We were there for five nights, staying in an apartment that our friend Michael booked.  It was over the castle side of the river but only a few minutes walk to the river and about 10 minutes walk to the Town Square.  So here a a few of the hundreds of photos I took!

We walked and walked and walked... visited the Prague Castle, Town Square, Wenceslas  Square, The Jewish Cemetery and memorials, visited Terezin Concentration Camp and even went to the Opera.   One evening we took the Funicular up the hill and walked back down.   Had lots of wonderful meals, stopped for beers and even had a meal at a beer hall - an experience not to be missed!

Off today to catch up with my son and his fiance, so looking forward to that.  Oh and doing some DT work!  enjoying creating again after the break.  Albeit, some simple cards.  Mojo is still a bit jet lag!

Some Holiday Pics ~ Singapore.

I thought I'd share a few photos from our trip to Middle Europe.  I took over 900 photos on my camera, over 250 on my iPhone and a few on my tablet.    So it's been hard to choice a few!

We started our trip with a 12hr flight from Auckland to Singapore.  As were arrived at 6.00am and the next leg would have been at 11.pm we decided to add an extra day and stay overnight.  This gave us almost two days to spend some time enjoying the sights and sounds of Singapore.  Here are a few pics of how we spend the time there.

We spend some time at Gardens by the Seas which was simply fabulous.  We also visited Raffles and had a Gin Sling there.  Chinatown was also visited where we went into a Buddest Temple.  We had our evening meal at the little vendors at Chinatown  and then went to the bar on top of the amazing boat shaped building.    Our hotel had a great swimming pool on it's roof and we were impressed they let us use it, even after we had checked out.  We were able to store our luggage there and then used the pool before heading out to the airport.

Feeling really jet lagged tonight.  It was the first day back at work and although I managed a full 7hrs 35minutes, I'm nearly asleep now at 8.15pm.  Am trying hard to stay awake for another half and hour at least, else I'll be awake too early.

thanks for stopping by.

Clean and Simple CASE

Hi there.  It's my day to inspire you over at A2Z Scrapbooking today.  Our theme for the month is CAS.. (Clean and Simple)

For my card I am CASEing my friend Gayatri Murali  I have had the pleasure of spending some time with Gayatri last year and she is one talented card maker.  Recently in Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft, she had a delightful card which I have CASE'd
Hey There

Here is my take on Gayatri's card.

CAS CASE

I used some leatherette card stock I picked up when a local stationery store closed.  It is the stuff you use for the front cover when you bind papers and was being sold super cheap.  I cut the Spellbinders tag out of it as well and did a pad to paper technique with Walnut Stain distress ink.    My little cutie is from Baby Animals Stamp and Cut as is the sentiment which  I cut with a Penny Black die (Chat Bubbles) and added the dash line.  My little animal was coloured with Derwent Inktense pencils and an aqua brush.  Finished with some Pretty Pink Sequins.

On your Bike for summer

There's a new challenge up at Die Cut Divas and it's all about Summer.
Our sponsor is DiesRUs.

They have so many stunning dies from many companies.

For this card I started by making my background.  I used a Hero Arts mask to make my clouds.  I sponged on some green at the bottom and stamped the grass (from a WPlus9 stamp set)  I stamped the sentiment (Hero Arts) and the balloon (Hero Arts)  I die cut the Penny-farthing bike from Memory Box (Memory Box dies are available at DiesRUs).  The frame is a die from Elizabeth Crafts Designs (Thanks Arlene for sending this to me)   My background embossing folder is a new one from We Are Memory Keepers.  Its a 3D one is is stunning.  Particularly on the shimmery grey card stock.

Thanks for stopping by.
