CAS-ual Friday ~ Stuck on You.

This week's Challenge over at CAS-ual Friday's blog is to use stickers.   I really like CAS cards or at least not too much embellishment on cards.  Maybe a layer or two but that's it.  My card for this challenge was CAS to the extreme and took maybe 5 mins!

CAS-ual Friday's sticker challenge

I had been over at Stamp Zone to pick up a stamp I'd ordered and saw some Penny Black Stickeroo's for half price... ( last years designs) so picked up some Christmas ones.  To make my card I simply added the sticker in the bottom corner and stamped the Penny Black Sentiment in the top corner.  The sentiment is from an old Christmas set I also picked up half price..  I then used my Gold Calligraphy pen to edge the card.   Too simple but I really love the clean and clear look.  And aren't those penguins so cute!

Well I've been busy getting some of my DT samples underway... so no pressure next week.  Just need to finish off the one for Simply Scrapping Crafts... nearly there.

oh and I need to do the ironing  :-(    ~ something hubby is going to have to do for himself the next few weeks!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by...

Cheers

Mygraphico challenge ~ August 29th Back to School

Here I am with my first challenge as a design team member for MyGraphico
We got to work with this delightful Back to School set
Our mandate was to make something CAS or very graphic....

I chose to do a Notebook...
Back to School

I started by creating a collage sheet the size of my notebook.  I then printed it out again so I could cut and layer the little girl and the note-sheet.   I distressed the edge of the book with Milled Lavender ink and added some gems.  Once I had it attached to the cover, I added scraps of ribbon along the spine.

I enjoyed my first challenge sample.... pop over to Mygraphico challenge blog to see what other fabulous projects the rest of the design team have produced.... very inspiring.  Hope you get a chance to join us and have a play...

Back tomorrow with a  CAS card I've made in 5 mins flat........ it really is CLEAN AND SIMPLE... I tell you!!!!!

Only a couple of days till the surgery... getting nervous again!!!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all your lovely comments and thoughts ~ much appreciated....

Cheers

my Exciting News,,,,

Finally I can announce my Exciting News..... I've been accepted as a designer for MyGrafico.  I've been a member of the community since January and have used their wonderful freebies (here).  Recently I saw they were doing a Design team call... so threw my hat in the ring.... and was so excited to hear from Tammylee that I had made it....
We do two weekly challenges and the other week we highlight a digi set.  I'm loving what I've done so far... getting a bit ahead so I can relax over the time of the surgery.

So called back Monday (US Time) to see my first sample for the challenge.  It's a fun one, I can promise you~

Now I have a card to share that I made quickly yesterday.  I was trying to use a sticker... but it didn't turn out how I wanted.... but the design I was using was fun and I just had to get it down on card....
CAS Rose

It's very CAS ~ but I am pleased with the result.

Our trip South went well.... the new babe ~ Madeline ~ is very cute... she was born 4 wks early so is still in NICU at Waikato Hospital - so very very tiny but doing really really well.  We went into see her,  fast asleep when we were there.  We heard that her big brother ( aged 3 yrs 3 weeks ago) was concerned at nappy change time " Mummy... her penis is broken!"  too cute ~ at least he notice there was a difference.   SIL isn't doing as well... she will need to have more surgery soon as two tumours are on the optic nerve and her sight is being compromised.  Praying for her and a good outcome ~

Well that's it for now.... Please call back tomorrow and see what I've done for MyGrafico's challenge.

Cheers

Tiffany Doodles and SSC.... week 4

This week is the final week of Tiffany Doodle's sponsorship over at Simply Scrapping Crafts... and you have 13 days to do any of this months Challenge.  So what's the challenge.... well it's ANYTHING GOES........
I used a beautiful bird image from Tiffany Doodles for a special "Thinking of You" card.
SSC and Tiffany Doodles ~ week 4 Anything Goes

I flipped the image as I wanted the bird facing the other way.   I used watercolour pencils to colour the bird in.  It's a Wabler, not a bird we have in NZ~ so goggled it to see what colours they are.  I added some Spellbinders Parisian Accents die cuts.  I followed the Lily Pad current sketch so am entering it there too.

This card was sent off to my SIL in Hamilton.  She needs another operation to remove more tumours... so this is just to let her know we are thinking of her.  We are off this weekend to visit them and the new baby ( her new grand-daughter)

Please come and join us at SSC ~ we would love you to have a chance of winning some lovely Tiffany Doodle digital stamps.

Cheers

Pink and Girlie.....

that's the request I had from Yvonne for a card for another friend's birthday...... Tracey LOVES pink.  I decided to add a bit of black as well...... and try an easel card....

Birthday Easel card (open)

The front uses a Spellbinders Die ~ Parisian Accents ~ It's a 8" long die and I used my long plates to cut it.  The birdcage and bird are a Tim Holtz die.  I added the rose and the organza bow to give it a girlie look.   I added some pink gems to the bottom of the cage and on the card.   For the inside, I used another row of the Parisian accents and made my stopper with a Hero Arts label stamp which I cut out and added with dimensional dots.   I think this certainly covers the request adequately....

Now for a surgery update... got a call today.... I've been bumped up the list... now Thurs 1st Sept.  So only a week and a bit wait now.... Pleased about that.

Thanks for visiting....

Over the Hill!... what hill?

One of hubby's work colleagues is turning 50 this coming week... And he wanted me to make her a humorous card.  So off to Bugaboo to check out the digi stamps there.  Bugaboo have some really good humorous images.

Sharon's turning 50!

I printed out this Stella image and coloured with Copics and some gel pens.  It is such a fun card.   Inside I added the sentiment " Age is a matter of mind over matter... if you don't mind, it doesn't matter"  Hubby has bought her a walking stick for her present.  He and Sharon have worked together for over 21 years.

Over the weekend I got lots of cards made... but most are for design work so can't be shared for awhile.  I can share this one though.... I made it for our niece Nicola who gave birth to a little girl last week.  She already has a little boy of 3, so now her and James have their pigeon pair.  As yet we don't know her name ~ just that she was only 5lbs 5oz.. just a little dot.  Had fun buying some little pink clothes for her

Hope you have a great week...

Nature at it's finest.....

This weekend the weather has been just lovely.  After the last weekend's Polar Blast, it was really spring like.  I had my camera in hand yesterday and got some great pictures
Tui in the tree

This is one of a pair of Tui's  that nest around our place.  Hubby puts out Honey water each weekend to attach them to the bird feeder.  Tui's have an incredible song call (you can listen here)  They really are beautiful birds

Luscious Ledger

A while ago I won a Hero Arts stamp called Luscious Ledger ... Now I just wasn't sure how to use this stamp.  It sat looking forlorn for a little while.  So recently I took pity on it and pulled it out to ink up.

I started by using some Walnut Stain distress ink on the stamp and some Spiced Marmalade ~ my first image missed a bit in the middle so I had to do some rescue work.  Here's what happened.
65th Birthday

I cut out part of the stamp to use as a focal point.  I had the background piece of card in my pile of pre-made backgrounds.  It was made using a technique that Joy showed here quite some time ago.  I sponged some Antique Linen distress ink over it to tie into the colours I was using and added some distressing with my fingernail.  This card is for a request from a friend for a 65th card.  So added the 65 cut with a Cuttlebug alpha die set.

For my second card, I got the panel stamped fully.
Luscious Ledger

I added some Liquid Pearls for the centre and added some organza ribbon.   Used the orange ink to distress round the edge.  A simple but effective card.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting.
